Teaching Philosophy

DYNAMIC

  • Students are free to ask questions, offer their opinions, and to think critically about course material.
  • I present students with challenging problems and ideas and allow them to work towards decisions and answers to those problems.
  • My lectures are not just outlines of the textbook.

CREATIVE

  • I utilize internet and multimedia resources (e.g., power point presentations).
  • I include current and relevant research studies.
  • I incorporate references and materials from popular culture, which assists students in making connections between the classroom and the world in which they live.

ENGAGING

  • I maintain both traditional office hours and "virtual" office hours (via email).
  • I foster an atmosphere of learning and collaboration.
  • I actively seek opportunities to assist students in the learning process.
